Talking a little about

Pedra do Telégrafo is a rock formation located away from the central area of the city. It’s a moderate hike and a bit steep at the beginning. You can sit on the rock to take a photo that gives the impression of hanging on the edge of it. Everyone will believe that you took a risk to capture that photo.

Curiosities

Pedra do Telegrafo became famous because of photos that create the illusion that visitors are hanging on the edge of the rock, with an abyss just below. In reality, the rock is sloped but not as dangerous as it appears in the photos.

Pedra do Telegrafo is located in the Pedra Branca State Park in the western zone of Rio de Janeiro. To reach it, visitors need to hike for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, which offers breathtaking views of the region.

The name “Pedra do Telegrafo” comes from the fact that in the early 20th century, there was a telegraph installed at the site for communication. Nowadays, remnants of the telegraph can still be seen.

Pedra do Telegrafo gained notoriety on social media, especially Instagram, due to the creative photos visitors share. The unique perspective offered by the rock has made it one of the most “Instagrammable” places in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to the iconic photos on the edge of the rock, Pedra do Telegrafo offers spectacular panoramic views of the western zone beaches of Rio de Janeiro, including Barra da Tijuca Beach and Grumari Beach.

The Cathedral of Saint Sebastian of Rio de Janeiro, also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro, is a Catholic cathedral located in the city center of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was inaugurated in 1979, replacing the Church of Our Lady of Carmo as the city’s cathedral. In a modern architectural style, it has a conical shape, with a diameter of 106 meters, an external height of 75 meters, an internal height of 64 meters, and a capacity for 20,000 standing people. One distinctive feature of the building, with its clean and sober lines, is the colorful stained glass windows that extend from the walls to the dome. The project and execution were coordinated by Monsignor Ivo Antônio Calliari (1918 – 2005).
